Purpose & Overview

Stalactites and stalagmites can be found in caves. Rainwater Regenwater seeps through the crack in the rocks and dissolves the limestone that is present there. When this water flows along any surface, it slowely deposits the limestone and forms calcite. To get big stalactites or stalagmites it can take ages, for they grow only a few centimeters every century.

It is possible to replicate this process and also the choise of chemicals can speed up the process.
